During the afternoon before the race, we were in the pit area, just looking around. It rained pretty hard that afternoon, and there wasn't much of anything going on. We were standing by Dale Jarrett's trailer and talking to one of the crew members who had ties with Ford. I said I was a DJ fan and later he asked if we'd like to meet him! This photo was taken in the trailer after we had talked to DJ for a little bit. (Some have said that DJ and I smile alike)

This is a photo of my wife, me, DJ, and my father-in-law in DJ's trailer.

During the afternoon before the race, all the cars must pass inspection. The angles, height, and width of just about every piece of the car is measured so that no car has an aerodynamic advantage over another. This is my wife and me, again with Wally Dallenbach's First Union Chevy behind us in the inpection line. (Not intentional... :)

The driver's meeting takes place before every race, and all the rules and regulations unique to that track are reviewed. We were lucky enough to just slip in the side door and listen in. The really great thing that they do is pray for safety during the race. This photo was taken after the drivers had been dismissed. It was incredible to be in the same room with Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, Bill Elliot, Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin, and Dale Jarrett. I still can't believe we got in!
