This photo was taken during the time between the Busch Race and Happy Hour. While Dale Jarrett is taking a breather from that race, The crew is prepping his Quality Care Ford Thunderbird for a few quick spins around the track-- other than that, it's pretty quiet...

It's kind of hard to see, but that's DJ sitting in the garage area, still in his White Rain racing suit, waiting for happy hour to begin. On his right is Terry Labonte (foreground, in the blue Bayer racing suit) and behind him you can barely see Bobby Labonte (in his black Interstate Batteries racing suit), who happens to driver the car they are all sitting in front of. It's interesting to see these guys just sitting around and talking before they go out and rub tires at 180 mph!

Here the cars are lining up waiting for Happy Hour to begin. They obviously want as much time on the track as possibile. Notables in this photo are Bill Elliot's McDonald's Ford (center), Jeff Burton's Exide Batteries Ford (right), and Sterling Marlin's Kodak Chevy (background center). Once Happy Hour starts, cars are rolling in and out of the garage area, and let me tell you, keep one eye in all directions, 'cause pedestrians do not have the right of way!

During Happy Hour, cars will pull onto pit road to check their tire temps. Uneven temps can be an indicator of a setup adjustment need, and overall temps give an indication of how well the tires will wear. Here the First Union Chevy driven by Wally Dallenbach gets a temp check while a television crew looks on.
